Our product GEO GOLD TMT operates under Thermo Mechanical Treatment (TMT) a process that produces a high strength rebar from steel of low chemical composition. This consists of a special heat treatment process i.e. quenching of surface layer of bar and tempering of this quenched layer by the heat in the core.
In the production of our GEO GOLD TMT bars, steel bars, steel billets are heated to approximately 1100oc in a reheat furnace and rolled through a sequence of rolling stands which progressively reduce the billets final size and shape to produce reinforcing bar.
On leaving the last stand the bar passes through the quench box where the surface layers are quenched to martensite while the core remains austenitic. A micro-processor is able to control the water flow in the quench box to ensure that the desired tempering temperature and resultant mechanical properties are attained.
The bar leaves the quench box with a temperature gradient through its cross section. Heat then flows from centre to the surface resulting in self tempering of martensite. Finally the austenitic core transforms to ferrite and pearlite during the slow cooling of the bar on the cooling bed. Our GEO GOLD TMT bars therefore exhibit a variation in microstructure in their cross section, having a strong & tough tempered martensite in the surface layer of the bar and a refined, tough & ductile ferrite/pearlite core.
Bond Strength – Our GEO GOLD TMT bars are specially designed for excellent bond strength between bars and concrete. The roll slashes the rib pattern automatically during rolling process and hence uniform and perfect pattern of rib.
Bending & Rebending – Our GEO GOLD TMT bars produced with latest technology are technologically designed so that the outer surface is tough and core is ductile. This results in excellent bending capabilities. The TMT bars can be bent around mandrels much smaller and easier than those specified in IS 1786 : 1985 and NS-191. This has obvious advantage at construction sites.
Welding Strength – Our GEO GOLD TMT product is considerably superior to those conventional cold twisted bars due to low carbon equivalents. Our GEO GOLD TMT bars can be butt-welded or lap welded using ordinary rutile coated electrodes of matching strength. Usually, no pre-warming or post heat treatment is necessary.
Corrosion Resistant – Our GEO GOLD TMT bars are produced by technology that results in a uniform and thick tempered martensitic rim, completely free from internal stress. This results in superior corrosion resistance characteristics as compared to traditional cold twisted bars. The presence of oxide layer on the surface further increases the corrosion resistance, when compared to traditional cold twisted bars.
